The first, Kingmik dog sled tours is based in Louise Louise, just a few minutes drive from the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, and about 40 minutes drive from Banff. Their tours cover more distance relative to time. If you have a Tri-area lift pass, and intend to ski at Lake Louise, you can catch the ski bus for free from Banff to Lake Louise. Why not spend your day skiing and dog-sledding at Lake Louise? After all, you will need your your warm ski gear to go dog sledding anyway! The second, Howling Dog Tours is based out of Canmore and there is a shuttle provided from Banff which is included in the price. They have several departure times throughout the day. These departure times mean we can fit in more than one activity for you out of Banff in the day thus minimizing your time off the slopes! |
In Lake Louise Kingmik dog sled tours offer trips ranging from a half hour introductory ride to a 1 1/2 - 2 hour foray to the Continental Divide. While the half hour trip is just a teaser, the Divide trip covers over 18 kilometers.
Guests have the opportunity to get to know the dogs, their guides, learn the basics of driving a team – and are encouraged to dive the team home! Your sled has comfortable foam cushions and warm sleeping bags. However, please remember you must dress for the cold temperatures of -20 degrees Fahrenheit between December and February. A hat is essential, as is a neck warmer which will, if necessary, cover your face. Warm boots are highly recommended, especially for the Divide trip when you are driving the team home. The dogs are really friendly and love taking you out! See for yourself! Contact us to arrange your shuttle from Banff! |
